WHAT'S NEW? AI IN EDUCATION POLICY

🇨🇭 China makes AI lessons compulsory – Swiss students remain skeptical

Starting in September 2025, China will introduce AI as a compulsory subject in primary schools – with at least eight lessons per year. The goal is to introduce children to AI technologies at an early age and to become a global leader in this field by 2030. In Switzerland, however, AI instruction remains voluntary and is not scheduled to become part of the Matura (high school diploma) until 2028. A study by the University of Zurich shows that many Swiss students are skeptical about AI: 🔹 45% never use AI in class 🔹 Only 25% believe it helps them learn better 🔹 Only 13% of teachers actively promote AI , while 16% even prohibit its use

The lack of clear rules and guidelines creates uncertainty in schools.
